Here is a picture of a product that I have been using to clean my wooden alarm clocks and any other small wood items that do not have a lot of intricate wood design.
Using 0000 Steel Wool, rub this product onto the surface in the direction of the grain. Then wipe it off with a clean cloth. It will take off dirt and grime and leave a wonderful finish without hurting the original finish.
Unlike some products for wood, you can leave this product on longer and it will not hurt the wood or finish. The container states that it removes white rings and years of built up dirt and wax.
